The Opportunity
The Department of Neuroscience has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.
Join a cutting-edge NHMRC-funded translational research program investigating the neurobiology of impulsive behaviour and its relevance to addiction and psychiatric disorders. The role offers the opportunity to work within a growing and highly collaborative team, contributing to multidisciplinary preclinical studies that combine behavioural neuroscience, neuroimaging and molecular approaches to understand how glial and neuronal interactions shape impulsive behaviour.
As the successful candidate, you will take a key role in the coordination and delivery of in vivo rodent studies, with responsibilities spanning behavioural testing, surgical procedures, tissue collection and downstream analyses. You will help implement, optimise and refine experimental techniques across the program, with additional scope to contribute to advanced neuroimaging and single-cell transcriptomic studies. This role is well suited to a versatile and motivated early-career researcher looking to build broad expertise, contribute to high-quality research outputs, and develop independence within a supportive environment.
About you
You will hold a PhD in neuroscience or a closely related discipline, with experience in rodent in vivo research and a strong interest in behavioural neuroscience. You will be organised, motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team, with evidence of an emerging research profile, including peer-reviewed publications. Experience in rodent behavioural assays, surgical procedures, tissue processing, histology, microscopy, neuroimaging, fibre photometry or transcriptomic methods is advantageous, but not essential.
