Enzyme Engineering Research Associate Position

Location: Manchester

Join the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology as a Research Associate in Enzyme Engineering and Biocatalysis. Contribute to innovative research led by Professor Andrew Buller with a focus on medicinal and materials chemistry.

This 18-month fixed-term position starting July 1, 2026, offers a collaborative research environment. You will engage in designing and executing high-quality research projects, develop new experimental protocols, and contribute significantly to publications and reports. Supporting and mentoring students and researchers is also a key aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and conduct research in enzyme engineering

• Develop innovative enzymatic transformation protocols

• Deliver timely research findings including publications

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams

• Train and support students and fellow researchers

Requirements:

• PhD in Chemistry or related field

• Research experience with peer-reviewed publications

• Strong interest in biocatalysis and enzyme engineering

• Effective independent and team collaboration skills

• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
