Postdoctoral Fellowship in Marine Ecology

Location: Bas-St-Laurent-Est (Sainte-Luce)

Embark on an 18-month postdoctoral fellowship at Université du Québec à Rimouski, focusing on the firstOSMOSE ecosystem model for the Estuary and Gulf of St. Lawrence. This role is crucial for assessing climate change impacts on marine fisheries.

This fellowship will involve developing, calibrating, and applying the firstOSMOSE model to understand marine food webs and fisheries in a rapidly changing ecosystem. You will compile critical datasets, project changes under multiple climate scenarios, and collaborate on economic models impacting Quebec's fisheries. This multidisciplinary environment offers an excellent platform for impactful marine research.

Key Responsibilities:

• Compile and analyze biological and fisheries datasets

• Design the regional OSMOSE model configuration

• Calibrate and validate the model with historical data

• Integrate climate simulations for future projections

• Collaborate on the bioeconomic framework development

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in marine ecology or related field

• Strong ecological modelling experience

• Proficiency in R, Matlab, or Python

• Familiarity with ecosystem models like OSMOSE

• Excellent communication and writing skills in English
