Role Summary
This posting is for one permanent 0.8 FTE position (60 hours biweekly).

Your Role
As the Project Biologist – Biodiversity, you will support the department’s Biodiversity program through development, coordination, and delivery of projects that align with our vision and values and within the department’s priorities.

Essential Qualifications

A university degree in wildlife biology, ecology, zoology, or a related discipline

Substantial experience in advanced data analyses using GIS and R software

Experience in report writing, including peer‑reviewed reports or publications

Experience coordinating wildlife‑related field projects, using non‑invasive and capture‑mark‑recapture methods

Experience coordinating and managing wildlife sample collection in a laboratory

Experience procuring and maintaining scientific equipment and supplies

Candidates who have education, training and/or experience equivalent to the above qualifications may be equally considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Suitability
To support key objectives and operational needs, candidates will be assessed on the following:

Strong working knowledge of Yukon wildlife

Ability to design and conduct wildlife studies or surveys

Ability to interpret and communicate scientific results in written formats

Ability to manage multiple, changing priorities and solve problems

Effective project management skills

Ability to maintain relationships within and outside of government

Ability to collaborate effectively with others while operating with minimal oversight
