The Opportunity

Join a high-impact research program investigating the neurobiological predictors of non-suicidal self-injury using the internationally recognised Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study. As a Research Fellow (Level A or

B), you will process and analyse large-scale neuroimaging data, contribute to high-quality publications and presentations, and help advance understanding of adolescent mental health. Appointment level will reflect your research experience, publication track record and demonstrated capacity for independent research leadership.

This position will be responsible for processing and analysing existing ABCD neuroimaging data, interpreting findings, and disseminating research through high-quality publications and conference presentations. The successful candidate will contribute to research activities either as an emerging researcher (Level

A) or with greater independence and leadership (Level

B). At Level B, the role will also include contributing to competitive grant applications, providing guidance to junior researchers and research support staff, supervising research students where appropriate, and playing a broader role in advancing the research program. Across both levels, the position will contribute to collaborative research initiatives, maintain high standards of research integrity and data management, participate in professional and research meetings, and undertake activities that support the success of the project and broader research team.

To be successful in this role you will have a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline and demonstrated expertise in MRI processing and analysis, supported by first-author publications. You will have strong analytical, programming and scientific writing skills, with experience using neuroimaging software, scripting languages and high-performance computing. Experience working with large datasets such as ABCD, together with an interest in non-suicidal self-injury, suicide research or emotion dysregulation, will be highly regarded.

For appointment at Level B, you will also demonstrate a stronger publication record, experience across multiple MRI modalities, and the ability to lead research initiatives and mentor others.
