Location: Lower Sackville South
Overview The Department Manager – Garden Centre (Seasonal Contract) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Garden Centre during our busiest time of year. This role provides leadership to a team of seasonal associates while driving sales, maintaining merchandising standards, managing inventory, and delivering exceptional customer experience. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong retail knowledge, effective people leadership, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment throughout the contract term.
Contract duration March to September 2026 - may vary based on business needs.
Responsibilities Lead the Garden Centre by setting the standard in safety, customer service, and merchandising.
Supervise, coach, and support seasonal associates, ensuring clear direction and accountability.
Drive sales by engaging with customers, monitoring performance, and executing action plans.
Ensure associates follow Kent’s sales and service model.
Execute seasonal merchandising plans and maintain visual presentation standards.
Manage inventory levels, stock flow, and shrink prevention practices.
Address customer and associate concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.
Work outdoors in all weather conditions and assist with loading/unloading as required.
Partner with store leadership to support store-wide initiatives and operational priorities.
Qualifications Previous experience leading or supervising a team in a retail environment is an asset.
Strong customer service focus with the ability to drive sales results.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage changing priorities in a high-volume, seasonal setting.
Product knowledge in garden, seasonal, or outdoor living is considered an asset.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and stand for extended periods.
CSA-approved steel-toed footwear required while on shift.
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required.
Open availability, including days, evenings, and weekends (rotating shifts).
