POSITION SUMMARY
The Access Control Officer (ACO) is responsible for conducting regulated access control into the restricted areas and critical areas inside and outside of the Air Terminal Building. Access Control Officers are required to be cross‑trained and rotate through all ten ACO posts.
Compensation: $22.50 per hour
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Access Enforcement:
Monitor and enforce entry restrictions at security checkpoints to ensure only authorized personnel enter restricted areas, inspect vehicles entering restricted areas, and check for unauthorized occupants.
Surveillance & Monitoring:
Provide 24/7 monitoring of terminal areas and the airport perimeter; identify and/or promptly report or rectify safety concerns and/or suspicious behaviors.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all airport tenants, staff, and guests adhere to security regulations established by Transport Canada.
Facility Patrols:
Perform regular foot patrols of airport facilities and grounds to uphold security and safety measures.
Emergency Response:
Respond as directed by the Security Operations Centre (SOC) and manage incidents until relieved by first responders.
Credential Verification:
Verify identities for Restricted Area Identity Cards (RAIC) and Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permits (AVOP) credentials and other temporary visitor passes.
Conduct routine safety checks throughout the property.
Operate and monitor advanced security technology and detection systems.
Provide customer service, including guidance, direction, and reassurance to individuals screened via security processes.
Maintain detailed notes of security breaches and incidents, providing support to investigators as required.
Multiple different posts in airport security will be staffed by Access Control Officers. Training for these posts will be provided during on‑the‑job training, if a candidate is successful.

Education:
High School diploma/GED

Commissionaires Security Officer Course (CSOC)
Aviation Security (AVSEC) training
