Position: CE Summer Camp Instructor - Youth Carpentry (26:005)
Location: Fort Nelson

Term of App't: July & August for a total of 75 hours

Start date: To be determined

Reporting to: Dean of Continuing Education

Location: Fort Nelson and Fort St. John, BC

Salary:

Wages will be negotiated (non-bargaining work/non-credit)

Description:

Northern Lights College's Continuing Education Department is looking to hire an individual with experience in the field of Carpentry and has an interest in passing along their knowledge to our youth.

Camps will run in each location in July and August for a duration of 5 consecutive days, from 9:30am – 3:00pm and will be focused on youth in grades 8 through 12.
*** The successful candidate will be required to successfully pass a Police Information Check prior to the start of the contract.

There may be opportunity to run 3-day camps in nearby communities – the successful candidate must be able to drive a truck with a tow trailer to these locations.

Qualifications:



Required:

  • Minimum of five years experience working in one or more of the following trades: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, millwright (An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.)
  • Understanding of safety in the classroom and teaching the students
  • Committed to student motivation and success
  • Ability to collaborate as an effective team member
  • Current, valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of rules and regulation of specific trade

Preferred:

  • Red seal certification, or equivalent in carpentry
