Position: Community Justice Worker for Indigenous Support
Location: Kenora Region (Keewatin)

Join Grand Council Treaty #3 as a Community Justice Worker dedicated to providing personalized support for Indigenous individuals. This role focuses on facilitating diversion services, working closely with community leaders and court systems.

This position emphasizes a commitment to supporting Indigenous community members referred for diversion by local leaders, police, or courts. As a Community Justice Worker, you’ll manage and facilitate the diversion process, ensuring clients have access to essential resources. Working collaboratively with the Treaty #3 Community Justice staff, you will assess eligibility for various sentencing alternatives and explain the process to clients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Arrange culturally appropriate supports for Indigenous individuals

• Determine client eligibility for alternate sentencing

• Liaise with justice professionals during the diversion process

• Attend court to represent clients

• Maintain documentation on client progress

Requirements:

• Degree or experience in Law, Social Work, or related fields

• Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and languages

• Familiarity with systemic discrimination issues

• Experience in counseling and crisis intervention

• Strong communication and organizational skills
