Position: Indigenous Victim Services Advocate Role
Location: West Haldimand (Port Dover)

Become a vital support as an Indigenous Victim Services Advocate for Six Nations of the Grand River. Assist victims of crime and social tragedies with crucial wrap-around services in your community.

This contract role requires collaboration with the IVS Manager and Indigenous Justice staff to aid victims from Brantford, Six Nations, Hamilton, and Cayuga. You will engage in service intakes and work with those affected by various traumatic experiences. Flexibility is key as the role demands responsiveness to immediate needs and availability for after-hours support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct intakes and referrals for victims

• Coordinate transportation and accommodations as needed

• Maintain accurate progress notes using the database

• Educate victims on their rights and available services

• Support victims directly during crises and tragedies

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in social work or related field

• Experience in Indigenous organizations or First Nations

• Minimum two years of counselling experience

• Registration with Ontario College of Social Workers or willingness to register

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
