Located in Whatì the Community Social Services Worker IV (CSSW IV) reports to the Regional Supervisor, Child and Family Services and is required on a regular basis to consult with their supervisor who is located in Behchok¿.
The CSSWIV) plays a key role in planning, consulting, developing, making referrals and coordinating activities relevant to case plans related to prevention, protection, permanency, placement and family reunification. In addition, this position is required to have consistent ongoing contact with foster parents and other caregivers. The incumbent is typically the public's first contact with the child and family services team and as such it is expected that they will present themselves to the public in a professional, and respectful manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivers mandated Child and Family Services, including intake, investigations, assessments, case planning, monitoring, and file management in accordance with legislation and policy.
- Manages child protection court processes, including preparation and presentation of documentation and liaison with legal counsel.
- Provides foster care and adoption services, including recruitment, assessment, approval, placement, monitoring, and caregiver support.
- Delivers voluntary, prevention, and community outreach services in collaboration with community partners and agencies.
- Provides crisis intervention and family violence response, including assessments, safety planning, referrals, and short-term support.
- Delivers adult social services and young adult case management as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Participates in after-hours and on-call emergency response services, including crisis investigations and interventions.
- Promotes workplace health, safety, cultural safety, and respectful professional practice.
Key
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Social Work Degree AND
- Two (2) years of relevant experience, preferably within Child and Family Services, or Human Services.
OR
- A Social Work Diploma AND
- Four (4) years of relevant experience, preferably within Child and Family Services, or Human Services.
Additional Requirements:
- Class 5 Drivers License.
- Must be able to obtain a Child Protection Statutory Appointment within the first six (6) months of employment and maintain it.

More Information
Labour Market Supplement
The successful incumbent will receive a $12,000 supplement upon hire and an additional $12,000 supplement after completion of 12 months of continuous employment contingent on remaining employed in an eligible position for a further 12 months. This is a taxable benefit and will be subject to applicable deductions.
Term Position

The salary range for this position is from $56.99 per hour to $68.06 per hour (approximately $111,131.
- $132,717. plus an annual Northern Allowance of $14,492
