On-Call Child Protection Specialist

Location: Manitoulin (Little Current)

Kina Gbezhgomi Child and Family Services is hiring an On-Call Child Protection Specialist to cover emergencies during evenings and weekends. This role is pivotal in supporting First Nations in Sudbury and Manitoulin.

In this challenging position, you will address urgent child protection needs, responding to crises related to children and youth in care. Candidates should have a strong understanding of social work principles and experience working with Anishinaabe families. Your expertise will directly contribute to service effectiveness and family well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond promptly to child protection emergencies

• Assess and manage crises involving children/youth

• Maintain accurate and detailed records of cases

• Advocate for resources and support services

• Work collaboratively with various stakeholders

Requirements:

• Indigenous Authorized Worker Training or equivalent

• Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or similar

• Must hold a valid Ontario Driver’s License

• Minimum two years direct social service experience

• Familiarity with Anishinaabe traditions and language is a plus

Provide critical support to children and families in need with KGCFS as an essential on-call professional.
