OVERVIEW:
The Jordan’s Principle Coordinator serves as a key point of contact for children and families supported by Kina Gbezhgomi Child and Family Services, providing coordinated service planning and support in partnership with agency staff. This includes working with both children in care and those receiving services while remaining in their family homes.
QUALIFICATIONS:- University degree or a minimum two-year college diploma in Human Services, Education, Social Work, or a related field.
- Minimum one (1) year of direct service experience supporting children and families.
- Experience working with Indigenous peoples, organizations, and communities.
- Review all Jordan’s Principle documentation related to service and financial accessibility from an agency perspective.
- Become familiar with agency and Jordan’s Principle service coordination and planning processes; review service workflows and recommend improvements to the Program Supervisor.
- Assist in the development of agency Jordan’s Principle reporting templates and documentation for formal submission, based on budget and service needs.
- Collaborate with service teams to identify unmet needs and lead the completion of Jordan’s Principle applications, including documentation requirements, tracking approvals, and managing appeals.
- Work with service teams, external service providers, and First Nations partners to obtain required supporting documentation, including letters of support.
- Support and empower families by assisting them in navigating the Jordan’s Principle application and advocacy processes.
- Participate in internal and external committees as required.
- Liaise and work effectively with the communities served, service providers, collateral agencies, organizations, and Elders.
- Apply agency service coordination and workflow processes from intake through case management and discharge, in alignment with mandated and non-mandated programs.
- Act as a liaison by providing education and information sessions to agency staff regarding Jordan’s Principle.
- Review and remain current with documentation from Indigenous Services Canada related to Canadian Human Rights Tribunal decisions and Jordan’s Principle.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required.
- Due to traditional Anishinabek practices, there may be occasional exposure to wood smoke and the burning of sacred medicines, including tobacco, sweetgrass, sage, or cedar, within the work setting.
