Shelter Resource Worker at Lookout

Location: Central Island (Chemainus)

Become a Shelter Resource Worker with Lookout Housing and Health Society in Duncan, BC. This role focuses on providing support and assistance to homeless adults in a 24/7 emergency shelter environment.

As a Shelter Resource Worker, you will report to the Site Manager and engage with guests facing challenges like homelessness and addiction. Responsibilities include conducting intakes, connecting residents with community services, and ensuring a safe, supportive atmosphere. This casual role requires various shifts, including day, evening, and overnight, with 7.5-hour shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide assistance and supervision to homeless adults

• Conduct guest intakes and orientations

• Connect guests with community resources

• Maintain records and statistical data

• Ensure compliance with health and safety programs

Requirements:

• Relevant certificate or Grade 12 with 2 years experience

• Familiarity with community resources

• Current Occupational First Aid Certificate

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Criminal Record Clearance - Vulnerable Sector required
