Position: Cedar Rose Support Counsellor Role
Location: Omineca and Yellowhead (Smithers)

Join the dedicated team at Cedar Rose as a Support Counsellor in New Hazelton, BC. This full-time role focuses on empowering women and children in crisis through culturally relevant support.

As a member of the Northern Society for Domestic Peace, the Support Counsellor provides a safe space for individuals experiencing violence. Your responsibilities will include crisis intervention, safety planning, and community education. Collaboration with team members and adherence to confidentiality are crucial components of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide a non-judgmental, safe environment for residents

• Implement crisis intervention and safety planning

• Support children under the Child Protection Act

• Manage confidential records of admissions and discharges

• Engage in fundraising and community education initiatives

Requirements:

• High school diploma required

• Degree in social work or related field preferred

• Proven skills in crisis management and support

• Training in mental health first aid

• Experience advocating for residents in the healthcare system
