Position: Full-Time Land Based Counsellor Role
Location: Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands

Transform lives with GWEKWAADZIWIN as a full-time Land Based Counsellor, a role that combines outdoor leadership and therapeutic counseling. This position is immersed in Anishinabek culture while focusing on holistic healing.

In this vibrant role, the Land Based Counsellor will implement a treatment-focused program within nature, guiding participants through outdoor experiential learning. Your responsibilities will include ensuring group safety, developing treatment plans, and assisting with transitions to aftercare. Close collaboration with the Land Based Team Leader is crucial to ensure participants’ well-being and program success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver and manage outdoor experiential learning programs

• Teach wilderness skills while prioritizing group safety

• Collaborate on personalized treatment plans for clients

• Facilitate transitions to community aftercare services

• Assist with program development and research initiatives

Requirements:

• Relevant diploma in human services or outdoor leadership

• Training and experience in mental health and addictions

• Background in wilderness settings with at-risk groups

• Valid Ontario ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
