Now hiring! Are you ready to take your summer to new heights? Camp Grossman is looking for a Climbing Wall Specialist to lead our adventure program. If you’re passionate about helping kids climb to their personal peaks, we want you on our team! This full‑time, on‑site summer role is perfect for a safety‑conscious, high‑energy individual who loves the outdoors.

Primary Responsibilities

Lead climbing sessions, plan and facilitate safe, engaging, and age‑appropriate climbing activities, help campers of all skill levels navigate routes and build confidence.

Inspect and maintain all climbing hardware, ropes, harnesses, and helmets daily, ensuring safety protocols and belay techniques are strictly followed.

Coordinate gear rotations and inventory with the Program Director, ensuring equipment stays in top working order.

Order and restock supplies during summer operations and complete end‑of‑season inventories for off‑season ordering.

Join all staff in the parking lot each morning and afternoon to welcome safe arrival and departure of campers.

Assist in planning and leading an activity or help with a cookout (one or two evenings after regular camp hours) throughout the summer.

Complete all staff payroll and onboarding on time before orientation begins.

Complete all pre‑camp asynchronous online training modules and attend all pre‑camp virtual and in‑person orientation sessions.

Supervisory Responsibilities (if applicable)

Provide ongoing direction, guidance, mentorship, feedback, and supervision of any assistants.

Create an environment where employees can achieve their individual goals.

Maintain positive working relationships to achieve desired outcomes and the assistants’ professional growth.

Write and conduct a mid‑summer evaluation of the assistant, identifying growth areas and concrete improvement suggestions.

Write and conduct an end‑of‑summer evaluation, including a recommendation for re‑hire.

Uphold organizational policies and report any related issues to the Specialist Supervisor or Program Director.

Job Details

Location:

Dover, Massachusetts, outdoors wooded property. Regular camp days: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday–Friday for the 8‑week season (June 29 – August 21). Special duties: 4 staff meetings on Monday afternoons and/or evenings, a Sunday Family Day on July 26, and 1–2 evenings (dinner provided) over the summer. Competitive starting pay: $16 per hour, subject to qualifications and internal equity.

Education and Experience

High school graduate strongly preferred.

Experience leading children in a subject area is a plus but not required.

Experience working in or attending summer camp is a plus.

Equivalent education and experience may be substituted to meet minimum criteria.

Physical Requirements

Work on‑site in Dover, Massachusetts.

Navigate 70 acres of rugged, uneven campgrounds independently.

Comfortable working outdoors or inside without air conditioning for most or all day.

Able to work in a busy, dynamic, sometimes noisy environment with multiple tasks and priorities.

Able to lift and carry objects weighing 30–40 pounds.
