Summary of the RoleGreat Western Railway Ltd. is seeking a highly organized and motivated individual to fill a full-time, temporary maternity leave position as an Operations Coordinator.
This position is primarily based in our Shaunavon office and generally follows a Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. schedule, with some weekend availability required for time-sensitive operational matters. We offer flexible work hours to accommodate the variable nature of railway operations.
This is a key role within our organization, responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of our railway and ensuring communication and scheduling run smoothly between crews, shops, track maintenance, customers, facilities and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing a constantly changing schedule, communicating with a wide range of people, and keeping multiple moving parts organized. A significant part of the position involves working with our railway operations software;
full training on our software and systems will be provided.
- Monitor weekly operational reports and schedule and coordinate train crews
- Coordinate with customers and facilities regarding rail movements, operational plans and schedule changes
- Monitor car availability, manage car orders and coordinate inbound/outbound car flow
- Monitor and respond to time-sensitive operational issues, including outside regular office hours
- Manage interchanges with CPKC and inventory at Interchange point
- Maintain accurate railcar, waybill and movement information within Wabtec's Transportation Management System (TMS)
- Update blocking and classification to ensure correct routing
- Ensure railcar and customer information is accurate for billing and invoicing
- Identify and correct data discrepancies in system records
- Coordinate with crews and staff to ensure field activity is reflected in TMS
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Proficient in Word,
Excel & Outlook - Excellent time management and problem-solving
- Comfortable learning new software and systems
- Able to manage multiple priorities accurately
- Railway experience not required - training provided
