Background of DepartmentWe are excited to be recruiting a Senior Quality Officer (Regulation/PSRB) to join our Quality Assurance and Enhancement team. This team leads on academic quality assurance across the University, playing a central role in ensuring effective academic governance and a rigorous, responsive quality assurance infrastructure. The team is pivotal in ensuring the University meets its obligations to external bodies, such as the Office for Students and Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs), and stays current with sector best practice in quality assurance.
Whatwill I be doing?
The Senior Quality Officer (Regulation/PSRB) is a senior administrative leadership role in the Quality Assurance and Enhancement team. In this role, you will manage the effective functioning of the University’s academic regulations and Additional Course Regulations. You will ensure the maintenance of accurate records in relation to the regulations and in relation to relevant PSRBs. Working with academic and professional services colleagues, you will help to ensure that regulations and the procedures are both responsive to the University’s needs and effective in practice.
You will draft key reports, briefings and policy documentation, particularly in relation to external regulation, conducting further analysis, planning and research where necessary. You will offer advice and support to internal and external colleagues regarding the regulations and assessment procedures, and regarding the governance of submissions to PSRBs. You will contribute to clear communications on complex regulatory matters for specialist and non-specialist audiences.
Collaborating with senior staff in Quality Assurance and Enhancement and across the institution, you will facilitate and contribute to the submission, scrutiny and completion of proposals relating to the Regulations and to the management of PSRB relationships. You will support appropriate governance bodies within the University. You may be asked to manage a small team of administrators who work across the department.
Whoare we looking for?
You will bring senior administrative experience, particularly within the context of Further or Higher Education, with a strong background in Quality and Standards settings. You will have a knowledge of academic regulations, governance and academic structures. Additionally, you will have a proven track record of managing professional communications, including with outside bodies,
You will possess excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, demonstrated through your ability to work independently and on your own initiative. You will be adept at prioritising work, identifying problems and formulating and implementing effective solutions. You will have the ability to organise information efficiently, produce comprehensive reports and make recommendations for senior colleagues.
Outstanding interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external staff at all levels.
A commitment to accuracy and proven attention to detail are crucial, as is discretion and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. You will have a track record in collaborative working within a complex organisation and have a clear understanding of the University’s external regulatory requirements in relation to Quality Assurance. In all areas, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring they align activity with external regulatory requirements (including those from OfS, DfE, CMA and relevant PSRBs) and University policy.

We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible. Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align with the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that the post-holder will normally be on the Canterbury campus at least two days a week; the work location will be determined by the tasks/activities being undertaken.
