Job
This role is part of a rapidly expanding civil engineering and groundworks contractor based in Canterbury. The successful candidate will work alongside a Senior Estimator, preparing competitive tenders across a varied portfolio of civil engineering, groundworks and drainage projects.
Job Overview- Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering, groundworks and drainage projects.
- Complete quantity take‑offs from drawings and tender documentation.
- Produce Bills of Quantities using estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
- Liaise with engineering, procurement, commercial and operational teams throughout the tender process.
- Obtain and review subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
- Assist in developing tender strategies and compiling submission documentation.
- Support the handover of successful tenders to project delivery teams.
- Maintain labour, plant and material cost databases.
- Work closely with a Senior Estimator, gaining mentoring and career development.
- Previous estimating experience within civil engineering, groundworks, drainage or infrastructure projects.
- Background in quantity surveying or civil engineering is advantageous.
- Experience producing competitive tenders and completing quantity take‑offs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
- Strong communication skills, able to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Commutable to Canterbury.
- £50,000 – £60,000, depending on experience.
- £490 per month car allowance.
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
