Canterbury Christ Church University is seeking an experienced and proactive Dental practitioner to join the Simulation Technical Team to support the Dental teaching delivery at Canterbury Christ Church University, across Canterbury and Medway campuses. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting dental hygiene and dental therapy education, research and knowledge exchange activities within a specialist teaching environment.
Aboutthe Role
As Senior Technician (Dental Simulation), you will coordinate and support the day-to-day technical operations of the Dental Simulation Laboratories in Canterbury and Medway. Working closely with the Technical Manager (Simulation), academic colleagues and students, you will ensure that teaching spaces, equipment, resources and specialist facilities are prepared, maintained and operated to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities- Supporting the delivery of dental hygiene and dental therapy teaching, research and outreach activities.
- Coordinating equipment management, including preparation, maintenance and storage.
- Preparing teaching materials, equipment and learning spaces for practical sessions.
- Providing technical guidance and support to students, academics and visitors.
- Monitoring equipment performance, arranging maintenance and managing consumable stock levels.
- Contributing to the development of risk assessments, standard operating procedures and safe working practices.
- Supporting compliance with health and safety legislation and University policies.
- Assisting with the continuous improvement of technical services, facilities and operational processes.
Membership of a relevant professional body and associate fellowship/fellowship of the Higher Education Academy are desirable but not essential.
About YouWe are looking for a highly organised and motivated individual with:
- A dental nursing, dental hygienist, and/or a dental therapist qualification, or equivalent
- Significant experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of dental nursing, dental hygiene, or dental therapy practice, or a closely related discipline.
- A strong understanding of health and safety requirements within specialist environments.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
- Experience of supporting, training or guiding students and colleagues.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach and the ability to work independently when required.
IOSH or NEBOSH qualification and First Aid certification are required but can be achieved following appointment.
Experience with in higher education, membership of a relevant professional body and recognition through the Higher Education Academy are desirable.
