We are seeking a Religious Education teacher to join our kura in a fixed-term position from March to October 2026. As this is a Special Character position, a willingness and ability to take part in religious instruction appropriate to the special character of the College is a condition of employment. This role is suitable for a beginning teacher, and may suit a primary-trained teacher, as there is no requirement for the successful applicant to teach subjects at a senior level.
Although this is a full-time position, a part-time role may be considered for the successful applicant, by mutual agreement.
Catholic Cathedral College is a special character, co-educational school with a maximum roll of 635, situated in central Christchurch. We are a culturally diverse, whānau-focused school and follow the charisms of our founding orders To Live by Faith. Our goal is to ensure a high-quality Catholic education is available for all, regardless of race, gender, identity, economic or cultural background. We follow the charisms of both Marcellin Champagnat and the Mission Sisters.
We recognise the unique position of Māori as tangata whenua and ensure that our policy statements and actions promote the intentions of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
A Special Character Position form is required to be completed and returned, and is included with the application documentation on our website. Your application must also include the fully completed Application for Appointment:
Declaration Form, current CV and cover letter.
Applicants should have the legal and ongoing right to work in Aotearoa New Zealand, and hold a current New Zealand Teacher Practicing Certificate.
