Pastoral Support Coordinator - Canterbury Area

A welcoming secondary school in the Canterbury area is looking for an empathetic, organised and proactive Pastoral Support Coordinator to join their pastoral team and make a difference to students' lives.
The RoleYou will play a key role in the school's pastoral provision, working closely with students, families and staff to promote wellbeing, positive behaviour and personal development. This part-time, term-time position offers the chance to support young people in a vibrant school community while helping create a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every student can succeed.
Key Responsibilities- Provide day‑to‑day pastoral support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and thrive in school life.
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and be a point of contact for welfare, behaviour and emotional wellbeing concerns.
- Work collaboratively with tutors, Heads of Year and pastoral staff to monitor attendance, behaviour and personal development.
- Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies where appropriate to ensure joined‑up support.
- Contribute to pastoral systems and processes that promote engagement, resilience and achievement.
- Empathetic, approachable and calm under pressure.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to work effectively with young people and colleagues.
- A positive, solution‑focused approach to pastoral care and behaviour support.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Contract: Part‑time, term‑time only (permanent).
- Working Pattern: Approx. 32.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday (term‑time).
- Salary: Paid on the Kent Range Scheme, entry point pro‑ratio (actual salary approx. 18,838 per annum based on the advertised role).
