Cover Supervisor

£14.00 per hour

Full-time or part-time (job share available)

The King’s School, Canterbury is seeking a reliable and professional Cover Supervisor to support the smooth running of the academic day by supervising lessons during short-term teacher absence. Working under the direction of the Deputy Head (Academic), the postholder will ensure that pupils remain engaged with work set, maintain high standards of behaviour and contribute to the calm, purposeful learning environment for which King’s is known.

This role would suit a graduate considering a career in teaching, an experienced education professional seeking a classroom-based position, or a retired professional looking for flexible term-time work. We are open to appointing either one full-time colleague or several part-time staff through a job share arrangement, with working patterns negotiated across Monday–Saturday teaching.

Responsibilities include supervising classes and study spaces, managing routines such as registration and transitions, supporting lunch duties, completing accurate registers, and providing feedback to teaching and pastoral staff. The successful candidate will uphold King’s high expectations, deal confidently with low-level behaviour, and follow safeguarding procedures, using systems such as CPOMS and iSams.

We are looking for someone calm, organised, and authoritative, with excellent communication skills, strong reliability and a clear commitment to safeguarding.
