As a Lecturer in Travel and Tourism at Canterbury College, you will bring the exciting world of travel, tourism and hospitality to life, delivering engaging and industry‑relevant learning experiences that prepare students for successful careers.
You will teach, coach and assess students across a range of learning environments, creating an inclusive and inspiring atmosphere where learners can thrive. Working closely with students, you will provide the guidance, encouragement and support they need to achieve their full potential and progress confidently towards their career goals.
In addition to teaching, you will:
- Lead and coordinate designated study programmes and courses, helping to shape an outstanding student experience.
- Design and deliver high‑quality, engaging and industry‑relevant curriculum content.
- Continuously review and improve programmes to ensure they remain innovative and meet the needs of students and employers.
- Monitor and evaluate programme effectiveness, implementing enhancements to drive student success.
- Ensure courses are aligned with current industry trends, standards and best practice.

This position is 22.5 hours per week with a salary of £21,958 up to £24,056. Giving you flexibility and excellent work‑life‑balance.
We pride ourselves in the support we can give those who are new to teaching, with ongoing training and coaching through our Teacher Academy which includes digital skill support. AboutYou
You’ll be a highly organised and creative educator, with the ability to plan and deliver engaging, innovative lessons that inspire learners. You’ll have strong interpersonal skills, a positive and empathetic approach, and the confidence to manage a classroom effectively. Tracking student progress and using this to plan targeted support and interventions will be a key part of your role.
Ideally, you’ll have experience teaching or delivering training in the workplace, although this isn’t essential as full training will be provided. You’ll be able to teach across Level 2 to Level 3 Travel and Tourism programmes and motivate learners to achieve and succeed in their studies.

Please note that there are two salary scale points for our Lecturer positions. All candidates will start at the introductory salary scale point unless certain criteria are met. Lecturers will normally move up to the highest salary scale once one full academic year of teaching for our group is complete. (Lecturers must be in post by 1st September in any given year to qualify and this is subject to approval).
Therefore, internal applicants in the same role may qualify for the higher salary scale, although should seek clarification.
