Hillmorton High School is a diverse urban coeducational school situated in the South-West of Christchurch. The school is a fast-growing Year 7–13 school with dedicated middle and senior schools. We have a roll of around 1400 and with further building works underway, the roll is expected to increase in the next few years. We provide students with a caring and supportive environment, to help them achieve academic excellence, leadership skills and a love of learning.
Commencing Term 1, 2027 we are seeking a skilled and motivated teacher in charge (TIC) of music to join our arts team to lead the growth of music in our kura.
You will expertly develop programmes which are aligned to the new curriculum and which reflect the interests and aspirations of our ākonga. You will manage and deliver music courses from Year 7 to Year 13, including NCEA programmes.
As TIC, you will oversee itinerant music teachers and the budget and resources of the music department. You will work with our wider performing arts team to promote and manage music performance opportunities which enhance the experiences of ākonga in our kura.
A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the understanding and ability to teach using culturally responsive and relational pedagogy is essential.
The successful applicant must be a NZ registered teacher and be willing to commit to our co-curricular programme also.
