The MRI services at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust serve and support communities across the Kent region. We are a team of 6 x RDAs, 40 x Senior MRI Radiographers, 8 x Reporting MRI Radiographers and 3 x Superintendent MRI Radiographers across the East Kent Hospitals. Our hardworking and progressive MRI team work across three base sites as well as supporting our satellites, including the newly formed Community Diagnostic Centre at Buckland, which supports the NHS England vision of reforming diagnostic services provided to the local community.
As a large acute Trust, we provide key services within the patient pathway, working hard as a team to continually deliver efficient and effective patient‑centred services. We are inviting applications from dynamic, experienced Senior MRI Radiographers to offer the position of Senior Radiographer to work in a diverse MRI Radiographers team at East Kent Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the jobThe MRI department at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundations Trust provides a wide range of high‑quality imaging for the local community and the wider population in East Kent. Our static MRI services are based at The William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, Kent, Canterbury Hospital in Canterbury and The Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital service is extended to Community Diagnostic Centres and mobile scanners across the east Kent region.
The MRI service is continuing to develop and expand to support our community.
The department has state‑of‑the‑art imaging equipment with a highly skilled and motivated group of Radiographers and Enhanced Practitioners. We offer career progression opportunities within clinical and into management roles within Radiology.
Our satellite hospital sites in Buckland, Dover and Royal Victoria Hospital, Folkestone provide a variety of Outpatient, diagnostic and Minor Injury services, alongside a range of services throughout the local area.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior MRI Radiographer to work in a team of MRI Radiographers based at Kent and Canterbury Hospital and rotate between Buckland Hospital.
Our service supports open access from General Practice across East Kent catchment area, consultant referral form EKHUFT outpatient clinics, inpatient referrals from EKHUFT wards and Emergency departments, also support external referral for specialised imaging support for patients with MRI conditional implants.

The post holder will work in a team primarily within MRI, responsible for their own practice within Radiology Directorate protocols and procedures in line with trust and national policies. In addition to that, expected to train and supervise junior members of staff, students and other trainees visiting the department and will be the authorised person in the MRI department in line with MHRA guidelines.
Post holder required to complete clinical competency and complete inductions and take part in the annual appraisal process with personal development plan. Once competency completed and signed, post holder will work without director supervision or support in out of hours service, required to work on a mobile scanner as and when necessary to support the service.
