Rated good by CQC, the service is located in Kingston, Canterbury in Kent. Public transport can be an issue to this service as the bus is not a regular service. Drivers are therefore preferable unless you can get to the service with no problems. Morning shifts start at 8am and afternoon shifts finish at 9pm.

Kingston is a warm, happy care home with a large country garden accessible to residents, providing care and support for up to 9 people. The support we offer includes Learning Disabilities, Down’s Syndrome, non‑weight bearing, dementia, elderly, skin integrity control, full nutritional support, full continence support and PEG feeding. The staff and service users enjoy summer barbecues and personalised in‑house events.

The Role

We are providing individuals with practical and emotional care, enabling them to lead a life as ordinary as they can achieve. You will need to be flexible and work shifts including bank holidays, weekends and potential sleep‑ins.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in the day‑to‑day implementation of individual support plans and activities within a challenging environment.
  • Maintain effective communication and liaison with service users, families and others whilst respecting appropriate confidentiality.
  • Support service users with the preparation of meals, laundry duties, cleaning and social events.
  • Maintain accurate notes and records as and when required.
  • Work as part of a team to provide high‑quality care.
  • Drive the service vehicle for the service users.
Personal Characteristics
  • Diploma in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards one.
  • Experience in supporting adults with challenging behaviour, learning disabilities and/or mental health issues.
  • The ability to keep calm under pressure.
  • The confidence to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The passion to work with vulnerable adults.
  • The desire and commitment to achieve high standards of safeguarding.

We provide innovative care pathways for people to live in community settings with learning disabilities, severe physical disabilities, autistic spectrum disorder, challenging behaviour, mental health, forensic needs and acquired brain injury.
