We are currently partnering with a well-established and growing transport and distribution business with a strong UK and European presence. Due to continued growth within their freight division, they are looking to appoint an experienced Freight Forwarding Coordinator to manage international shipments and support customers across a range of freight services. Theopportunity
This is a hands-on freight forwarding role responsible for coordinating shipments from initial enquiry through to final delivery. Working closely with customers, carriers, and overseas agents, you will ensure freight movements are planned efficiently, documentation is completed accurately, and customers receive a high level of service throughout the process. The position offers exposure to multi-modal freight operations and would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced logistics environment with a strong focus on customer service and operational excellence
Key responsibilities- Coordinate import and export shipments across road, sea, and air freight services
- Manage freight bookings with carriers, hauliers, and shipping lines
- Prepare and process shipping documentation and customs paperwork
- Monitor shipments and provide customers with regular updates
- Obtain freight quotations and negotiate competitive rates with suppliers
- Liaise with overseas agents and partners to ensure smooth international movements
- Resolve any delivery, customs, or transport-related issues quickly and efficiently
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and company procedures
- Maintain accurate shipment records and operational data
- Build strong relationships with customers through excellent service and communication
- Previous experience within freight forwarding, logistics, or international transport
- Good understanding of import/export procedures and customs requirements
- Experience coordinating road, sea, or air freight movements
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Commercially aware with an understanding of freight costs and margins
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively under pressure
