Our university client invites applications for the inaugural Dean of Research, Enterprise and Knowledge Mobilisation (REKM). This newly created role sits at the heart of a transformational change programme that has reimagined the university’s research & enterprise infrastructure, with a bold ambition to deliver inclusive, sustainable and community-engaged research and knowledge mobilisation.

Scope & Strategic Impact

Reporting to the Senior Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research, Enterprise and Business Development), the Dean will:

  • Lead the university’s research ambitions and shape strategy across the institution.
  • Ensure alignment between institutional goals and local delivery, driving cultural change following a major restructure.
  • Drive the university’s submissions to  KEF and make a personal contribution to the research profile, commensurate with professorial status.
Challenges & Metrics
  • By 2030, help the university reach the middle third of UK .
  • Achieve top 20 % performance in most areas of the Key Economic Factors (KEF).
  • Grow research and enterprise income.
Key Requirements
  • Strategic clarity, systems thinking, and the ability to inspire others.
  • Prior leadership experience as an Associate Dean of Research, or a similar role.
  • Experience in university research strategy,  KEF submissions.
  • Strong record of research excellence and enterprise engagement.
