About the Role

As our South Island region continues to grow to meet the demands of current projects and a secured forward workload, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our team based in Christchurch.

You’ll bring a proven track record of delivering medium to large-scale commercial projects, ensuring safety, quality, cost, and time requirements are consistently met throughout the project lifecycle. Experience working on commercial projects in New Zealand is essential.

This role involves close collaboration with Site Management, Quantity Surveyors, and clients, so strong relationship-building skills are key. You’ll also play a vital role in coaching and mentoring your project team. As a valued member of Hawkins, you’ll work alongside some of New Zealand’s most knowledgeable construction professionals.

What we’re looking for:
  • A positive, can-do attitude and strong work ethic
  • 5 + years proven experience as a Project Manager on medium-large commercial projects
  • A track record of delivering projects on or ahead of schedule
  • Strong programming skills and proficiency in Microsoft Project or P6
  • Experience in project reporting (programme, financial status, quality, and Health & Safety)
  • Ability to manage subcontractor performance effectively
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide your team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capability to manage key project requirements: time, cost, quality, HSE, and client relationships
