Position: Nursery Team Leader/2IC

Little Diggers Early Learning Centre is looking for an experienced and passionate team lead / 2IC to join our nursery team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strong leader who is passionate about working with under twos, building positive team culture, and supporting high-quality teaching and learning outcomes for tamariki.

As our centre continues to grow, we are expanding the leadership structure within our team. Alongside this team lead position, we are also looking to appoint a 2IC role. For the right person, there is an opportunity to step into this broader leadership position, supporting wider centre operations and working alongside the management team when required.

The 2IC role offers the opportunity to work closely alongside the centre manager, supporting the day-to-day running of the centre and stepping into leadership responsibilities in the manager’s absence.

About the role
  • Full-time position (40 hours per week)
  • Mixed opening and closing shifts as part of the roster
  • Leading and mentoring the nursery teaching team
  • Supporting curriculum development and daily room operations
  • Building strong relationships with tamariki, whānau, and colleagues
  • Working collaboratively with the centre manager and wider leadership team
  • Supporting broader centre leadership responsibilities when required
What we are looking for
  • A qualified and registered ECE teacher
  • Previous leadership experience within ECE
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of infant and toddler pedagogy
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A calm, organised, and positive leadership style
  • Someone who can confidently lead a team while also contributing to the wider centre vision and goals
  • Ability to think proactively, problem solve, and support centre operations when needed
  • A passion for mentoring and growing others in their teaching practice
