Are you looking for an opportunity as an Assistant Service Manager where you can obtain career progression while making a difference to the lives of others? We have an exciting opportunity with a leading care specialist who are looking for an Assistant Service Manager to oversee their service in Canterbury. This service specialises in supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour, so experience within this client group is highly desirable.

Job Purpose
  • Motivate and inspire your teams to provide outstanding support through effective training, coaching and leadership by example.
  • Act as a role model and leader in the delivery of active support, empowering the people you support to have active and fulfilling lives aligned with their needs and aspirations.
  • Work collaboratively with the other members of the Service Leadership Team to help oversee and manage the smooth running of this service, including rostering, support plans, staff deployment and managing budgets.
Responsibilities
  • Show empathy, compassion and patience by providing person‑centred approaches for those you support and leading your team to success.
  • Communicate effectively, influence others and ensure you get the best from your team; possess excellent leadership and team management skills to ensure collaborative and effective work.
  • Serve as an effective coach and mentor for your team and possess good IT skills.
  • Think on your feet and commit to seeing things through, achieving the best outcomes for the people you support.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of best practice in delivering support to people with different needs and a passion for doing so.
  • Excellent communication and people management skills, and knowledge of current CQC regulations and compliance within the new framework, with a proven track record of quality assurance and service improvement.
  • Capacity to work in a 24/7, 365‑day service; flexible to cover shift patterns including early mornings, late evenings, occasional sleep‑ins and waking nights, and cover the rota at the service.
