About the Role

Our Client is seeking a motivated and reliable Machine Setter / Operator to join their Machine Shop team in Whitstable. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC professional to join a well-established manufacturing business producing precision-engineered components for internal assembly operations. Working within a fast-paced production environment, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC multi-tasking lathes to manufacture components to exact specifications while maintaining exceptional quality and delivery standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set and operate CNC lathes to produce small and medium production batches.
  • Manufacture components from raw materials efficiently and accurately.
  • Inspect finished work against engineering drawings using a range of measuring equipment.
  • Identify and report any quality concerns or defects promptly.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly machine maintenance checks.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and support 5S initiatives.
  • Reduce setup and cycle times while monitoring tooling performance and efficiency.
  • Carry out de-burring, cleaning, final inspection, and completion of traceability documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet production targets and deadlines.
About You
  • Previous experience operating CNC machine tools.
  • Experience working with CNC lathes, ideally with a minimum of 4-axis machinery.
  • Knowledge of reading and editing Fanuc-based programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience using measuring equipment for detailed quality inspection.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Safety-conscious with excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Desirable
  • Experience with twin spindle machines.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 aerospace quality standards.
