Position: Garden Maintenance Apprentice (1st, 2nd, 3rd Year)

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a
Garden Maintenance Apprentice (1st, 2nd, or 3rd Year)to join the Ian Barker Gardens Maintenance team.

Mature-aged apprentices are encouraged to apply!

A bit about us:

Ian Barker Gardens is responsible for creating some of Melbourne’s most admired gardens. We nurture outdoor spaces that enhance and elevate clients’ lives through reliable and expert horticultural care.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Is passionate about horticulture and has an eagerness to learn and develop their skills
  • Is a supportive team player who helps to foster a culture of collaboration to achieve the best outcomes for our clients’ gardens
  • Maintains a high professional standard by taking an organised and efficient approach to tasks and responsibilities
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Is willing to obtain or is currently undertaking a Certificate III in Horticulture or Parks and Gardens
  • If you’re in the second/ third year of your apprenticeship –we’d love for you to have a basic knowledge of plants, pests, diseases, pruning techniques, and basic operation skills related to garden maintenance tools.
