Our client is seeking a reliable and experienced Driver of Supplies / Yard Supervisor who MUST BE ABLE TO TOW, to oversee the transportation and organisation of supplies within their premises using a company Tipper Truck. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering materials, managing yard operations, removal of rubbish to skips, and ensuring the smooth flow of goods.
This role requires a proactive individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to handle physical tasks efficiently. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to logistics operations while maintaining high safety and organisational standards. Ideally has a certificate in Fork Lift Truck driving. Please note this is a self employed role and you will need to provide your UTR number.
Duties Safely operate company vehicles, including lorries and vans, trailer, forklift for the delivery of supplies to designated locations. Be able to tow all plant machinery and other vehicles. Supervise yard activities, including the organisation, storage, and movement of materials and equipment. Assist with loading and unloading supplies, involving heavy lifting when necessary. Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and on schedule, maintaining clear communication with relevant teams.
Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly. Maintain a clean and organised yard environment, adhering to health and safety regulations. Coordinate with office staff to manage stock levels and supply chain logistics effectively. Keep detailed records of deliveries, pickups, and inventory movements. Full enhanced DBS (disclosure barring service) will be undertaken erience Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar logistics role.
Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record and that can tow. Experience in commercial driving, demonstrating safe driving practices over long distances or in busy environments. Previous warehouse experience is advantageous, especially in managing stock or supplies. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently as part of daily tasks. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Excellent communication skills to liaise with team members and external contacts confidently. This role is ideal for a motivated individual looking to utilise their driving expertise while taking on supervisory responsibilities within a dynamic environment. Our client serves an extensive customer base including NHS Trusts across Birmingham, Local Schools and Educational establishments, Councils and Letting Agents, as well as home maintenance and residential extensions and conversions.
