Shoal Creek Baptist Church in Canton, Georgia, is actively seeking a bi‑vocational Associate Pastor of Family Ministry that will build our church up in faith and love through a focus on ministry to families. Our church is passionate about loving Jesus and loving others. Throughout our congregation, we are a people who love people as we seek to fulfill the Great Commission.
As the Associate Pastor of Family Ministry you will play a big part in fulfilling our vision as a church to impact our local community and the world through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Role
The Associate Pastor of Family Ministry is responsible for developing and expanding ministries devoted to families within the church. As a member of the pastoral staff, the Associate Pastor of Family Ministry will partner with staff, leaders, and volunteers to help develop new and expand existing ministries to children, teens, and young adults within the church. Through planning, training, development, and leading, the Associate Pastor of Family Ministry, by God’s grace, will ensure that family ministries at the church are focused on leading families into a committed relationship with Christ and growing into a deeper knowledge and intimacy with Him.

You have a passion for ministry to families that include children, teens, and young adults. You have experience with children’s and youth ministry and have a heart to teach, shepherd, and see others grow in their faith.
You have a servant heart that loves people. You are good at managing and balancing multiple priorities and passionate about inviting others to exercise and develop their gifts. You trust Christ in the unknown and faithfully seek His guidance to help equip and lead you. You exhibit the fruit of the Holy Spirit and are growing, learning, and maturing in your faith.
You Will Do
- Partner with the Senior Pastor to advance development and expansion of discipleship and engagement for families.
- Support the recruitment, training, and oversight of volunteers and leaders within ministries for families.
- Research, establish, and maintain curriculum for children’s and youth ministries within the church.
- Develop relationships and minister to families with children ranging from newborn to 18 years of age.
- Actively seek to disciple and provide Biblical guidance to volunteers, families and encourage a discipleship mindset within families in the church.
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and host special events for families, children, and youth (i.e., VBS, parent’s night out, etc.).
- Lead and serve as primary teacher for the youth ministry within the church.
- Maintain consistent communications and relationships with families within the church to assist with spiritual care and development.
- As needed, assist with teaching responsibilities within the church during regularly occurring services (i.e., Sunday morning worship, Wednesday night Bible study).
- Qualified to serve Biblically as an elder in accordance with 1 Timothy 3:1‑7 and Titus 1:5‑9.
- Some seminary or Bible college experience or training.
- Basic working knowledge of children’s ministry software or ability to learn (i.e., Planning Center).
- Ability to lead in a hybrid role with shifting priorities as the needs of the church grow and change.
- All candidates must acknowledge and uphold the Beliefs and Culture of Shoal Creek Baptist Church and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
- A growing Christian faith and character.
- A commitment to the mission of the church.
- Experience with leading aspects of family, youth, or children’s ministry.
- Successful completion of background check.
- Willing and able to officially join Shoal Creek Baptist Church in membership.
- Able to provide relevant personal and professional references.
- Currently in good standing and actively attending a Baptist Church in friendly cooperation with the SBC.
- Time commitment on average is 15 hours or less per week and includes midweek youth service and Sunday morning service.
- The compensation range is between $12,500 and $15,000 annually.
