Asheville Veterinary Associates is seeking an experienced veterinarian to serve as Medical Director
. Asheville Veterinary Associates has been a cornerstone of compassionate veterinary care in the Asheville community since 1972. Our service-oriented staff provides state-of-the-art pet care in welcoming facilities while maintaining our commitment to treating every pet with the same care and compassion as if they were our own.
We pride ourselves on offering comprehensive veterinary services, including wellness and preventive care, vaccinations, parasite control, dental care, and surgery, all delivered with a focus on prevention-based medicine that maximizes quality of life for our patients.
Our Team
Asheville Veterinary Associates is a three-doctor practice working collaboratively to provide exceptional patient care. As Medical Director, you will lead our talented team while fostering a supportive environment that encourages professional growth, learning, and excellence in patient care.
Medical Director Responsibilities- Provide strategic medical leadership and oversight for all veterinary operations.
- Establish and maintain medical protocols and quality care standards.
- Mentor and develop associate veterinarians and support staff.
- Monitor doctor performance and production.
- Oversee surgical and medical cases, ensuring positive outcomes and excellent client communication.
- Drive revenue growth.
- Participate in the recruiting and interviewing process for doctors and key staff members.
- Collaborate with practice management on business initiatives and hospital growth.
- Support inventory management and cost control measures.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and the community.
- Comprehensive diagnostic capabilities, including:
Digital radiography - Dental radiology
- EKG
- USDA certification for international travel
- In-house laboratory
- Integrative medicine offerings:
Traditional Western medicine - Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM)
- Phovia Light Therapy
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an accredited university.
- Current North Carolina veterinary license in good standing.
- Minimum of 5 years clinical experience.
- Previous leadership or management experience required.
- Strong surgical and medical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrated team leadership and development capabilities.
- Interest in or experience with integrative medicine approaches.
- Business acumen and financial management skills.
