MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or GED;
Must be at least 21 years of age and a citizen of the United States. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required. Must have a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle operator’s license with endorsements compatible with assigned duties of Cherokee County Board of Education. Must maintain acceptable level of physical and mental fitness to meet department standards.
Support and facilitate the educational process within the Cherokee County School System by providing a safe and secure environment, the preservation of public order, the protection of life and property, and the prevention and detection of crime.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Serve as a key member of the campus safety team, supporting emergency preparedness efforts by contributing to the development of the site-based safety plan.
- Collaborate with the School Police Officer on campus security matters, supporting situational awareness and verifying alarm responses to ensure a coordinated and effective security approach.
- Assists the School Police Department in providing crowd management at extra‑curricular activities and special events.
- Patrol designated areas to ensure the safety and security of the school campus, administrative buildings, and grounds. Monitors the campus and buildings for unauthorized individuals and verifies the presence of visitor and employee badges.
- Maintain an active security presence at district schools, interacting with students, faculty, and staff. Assists in promoting positive behavior, provides supervision, and supports the overall educational objectives as assigned.
- Supervises and facilitates the safe crossing of children across roadways during school arrival and departure times, ensuring their safety and well‑being while maintaining order and efficiency in the process.
- Exercises sound judgment and discretion when making decisions to halt traffic for school buses, ensuring the safety of students and adherence to traffic regulations.
- Maintain a high level of attentiveness and vigilance while on duty, continuously monitoring the environment to identify and respond promptly to potential safety concerns or incidents.
- Complete all job assignments in a timely, accurate and professional fashion.
- Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.
- Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.
- Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to assignments.
- Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibility.
- Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
- Follow federal and state laws, and Board policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
