SR. AQUATIC OPERATIONS AND SAFETY COORDINATOR

Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency, based in Woodstock, Georgia, is dedicated to providing recreational facilities and services for the community. Role Description

This position is responsible for the daily operation of all indoor and outdoor pools, and splash pad at Cline Park including maintenance and cleaning pools and pad. Performs supervisory management of head guard, lifeguard, and splash pad staff and programs for American Red Cross Safety classes. This position requires strong leadership skills, knowledge of aquatic safety regulations and best practices, and the ability to effectively manage a team.

This position is also responsible for developing and implementing safety procedures, maintaining equipment and facilities, and ensuring a positive experience for facility users. This position may also involve budget management, staff training, and liaising with other departments to ensure smooth operations. This position plays a crucial role in promoting a safe and efficient aquatic environment for staff and patrons. This position is also important to the training of lifeguards for front line customer services experience.

Responsibilities
  • Plans, organizes, and implements Red Cross Safety programs for children, teen and adult activities.
  • Manages programs and evaluates services; works directly with individuals participating in programs.
  • Supervises, schedules, and evaluates part-time head lifeguards, lifeguards and splash pad staff. May also supervise and evaluate interns and volunteers.
  • Recruits, recommends for hire, and trains all assigned staff.
  • Handles employee concerns, directs work assignments, counsels and disciplines employees when necessary, and completes employee performance appraisals.
  • Enforces CCAC/Agency/Government rules,_BASIC and ordinances; keeps all staff informed of appropriate changes in policies and procedures.

    Coordinates with other staff the planning, organizing, and implementing of shared programs and facilities.
  • Performs necessary preparation of aquatic areas and ensures availability of needed equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains pool water chemistry; determines amounts of chemicals required and makes additions using chemicals such as chlorine, CO2, sodium bicarbonate, muriatic acid, soda ash, etc.
  • Maintains pool vessels, cleans tile, and vacuums pools.
  • Plans in-service training for lifeguards throughout the year.
  • Maintains cleanliness and aesthetics of facility per Maintenance SOP.
  • Opens and operates splash pad per schedule and season.
  • Works with the maintenance team and with the Aquatics Manager. Ensures the cleanliness and function of the entire Aquatics Complex.
  • Possesses technical skills and knowledge in a wide range of aquatic, recreation, health and wellness activities for all ages.

    Possesses skills to use office equipment, and various software programs.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from college or university with emphasis in Recreation or Sport Management or related field or at least three (3) years’ experience in aquatics field including Managing Public Swimming Pools, Supervision of Staff and Programs, and Fiscal Responsibilities.

Special Qualifications
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid/AED Certification.
  • Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification within six (6) months.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification within six (6) months.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
