Job Overview

APTIM is seeking senior-level engineers to join our team serving government and commercial programs.

Engineers will apply critical thinking during project phases including planning, procurement support, design, construction, and commissioning. We expect our engineers to be creative problem solvers actively seeking the best solutions for our clients. The role involves working on multiple projects, requiring knowledge of engineering and construction industry standards, scope of work, safety protocols, and a professional work environment. The position offers growth opportunities and involves field (domestic and international) and office work as needed.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Resolve a wide range of mechanical engineering issues creatively, demonstrating full understanding of the field.
  • Experience with HVAC, ASHRAE, SMACNA & ACGIH codes.
  • Proficiency in building load calculations using Trane Trace or Carrier HAP software.
  • Perform duct sizing and pressure drop calculations.
  • Size and specify HVAC equipment such as AHUs, DX units, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, boilers, and heat exchangers.
  • Apply principles and theories of HVAC and mechanical engineering, with knowledge of related fields.
  • Mentor and oversee junior engineers.
  • Provide solutions to complex problems through data analysis and evaluation.
  • Select appropriate methods and techniques for problem resolution.
  • Develop project design basis, specifications, and detailed engineering documents.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering codes, standards, and company policies.
  • Lead projects and supervise lower-level personnel when required.
  • Contribute to team efforts and perform detailed technical analyses.
  • Break down complex tasks into manageable parts.
  • Travel to site locations for engineering support, client meetings, and collaboration with other offices.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of related experience.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, engineering software, AutoCAD, REVIT, Micro Station).
  • Willingness to travel for field assignments.
  • Experience in mechanical, plumbing, nuclear, and construction fields is a plus.
  • Construction certifications are a plus.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to pass background checks for government access.
  • PE license required.
  • Certified Energy Manager certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and in diverse teams.
  • Willingness to collaborate across disciplines.
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills.
