Designer; electric distribution projects

Designer (electric distribution projects) is an onsite position based in Eau Claire Wisconsin 54701. Hybrid schedule: in‑office Tues‑Thurs, remote on Mon and Fri. This is a six‑month contract assignment (W‑2). You will manage the design and manage the electric distribution projects for new and existing customers. Responsibilities include customer interaction, project management, field assessments, and system design using GE Small world (customized GIS).

Tasks include transformer sizing, underground cable routing, and pole placement. Team includes: 5 electric designers, 3 service designers, 2 gas designers.

• Check SAP for new customer contacts.
• Field visits or computer‑based design work.
• Weekly scheduling meetings (Mon/Tues) and team touchpoints (Thurs).
• Perform varied daily tasks.
• Support the electric side and collaborate with service/gas designers.
• Support external customers (residential and commercial).
• Collaborative office environment with idea sharing.
• Have a mix of field and office work; field work includes visits to residential, commercial, and construction sites (30% field work).

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Basic electrical knowledge or background.
• Experience with GIS/AutoCAD is a plus but not required.
• A background in construction, call center, police, or other relevant fields.
• Experience in electrical or utility fields is a plus.
• Will use personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $28.00/hr. to $33.00/hr.
