Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for a Contract Accounts Payable Clerk to join a client team in Mississippi. This position centers on preparing financial records, reviewing invoice-related documents, and working with vendors and internal departments to keep payment activities accurate and on schedule. The ideal candidate brings a solid grasp of accounting terminology, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and organize financial documents so they are complete and ready for timely processing.

- Respond to vendor questions related to invoices, payment status, and account differences in a clear and detail-oriented manner.

- Support accounts payable activities by reviewing invoices for accuracy and completeness before processing.

- Compare invoices against purchase orders and receiving records through 2-way and 3-way matching procedures.

- Investigate discrepancies in billing or documentation and coordinate resolution with the appropriate parties.

- Keep vendor files and related financial records current, accurate, and properly documented.

- Follow internal accounting guidelines and company policies throughout daily transaction handling.

- Partner with accounting and operations staff to help ensure efficient and accurate workflow completion.

- Provide additional administrative and accounting assistance as business needs require. Requirements - At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable, accounting support, or financial administration is preferred.

- Working knowledge of basic accounting concepts and common financial terminology.

- Experience handling invoice review, vendor correspondence, and reconciliation-related tasks.

- Familiarity with 2-way and 3-way matching processes is strongly preferred.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to identify issues and solve problems effectively.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.

- Ability to work independently while balancing multiple assignments and deadlines.

- Experience with invoice coding, invoice processing, and check run support is a plus.
