The work of our Regional Environmental Engineers is critical to enabling AWS's growth in the United States and around the world.

The AWS Environmental team is an expanding and dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS’s growth and ensuring compliance of AWS’s global operations, including physical data centers and other facilities. The team has responsibility for architecting and implementing AWS’s global environmental programs, defining and implementing risk management and compliance systems, setting and refining global policies and procedures, overseeing the development of standards, tools, auditing and metrics, and employee training.

Additionally, the team engages with all AWS business units to provide scalable and effective compliance strategies that support current and future business objectives while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

• Manage and oversee compliance with environmental regulations and Amazon policy.
• Drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organization.
• Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Amazon standards.
• Develop environmental metrics to measure, monitor and forecast performance.
• Conduct thorough and accurate environmental audits for continuous improvement.
• Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently.
• Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the company.
• Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed appropriately.
• Assist in time‑critical compliance report submission to various governmental agencies.
• Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective action.

• Experience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Experience developing and implementing environmental compliance programs including regulated waste, water, and air regulations in accordance with applicable laws.
• 5+ years of experience as an environmental compliance specialist.

• Experience in project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
• Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains.
• Experience in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, service operations, or related fields.
• Travel up to 25% of the time.
• Experience with projects in Mississippi or other Southern States.

Location:

Jackson, Mississippi (travel throughout the state and U.S. required). Salary range: USD 98,700 – 165,100 annually (includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units). Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
