Job DescriptionAs a Data Center Technician, you are a primary resolver for your support team, skilled at troubleshooting and resolving most complex hardware infrastructure issues. You create and maintain documentation on technologies you support and are able to effectively pass down knowledge of these technologies to junior staff. You have basic to intermediate system administration skills and, where applicable, are able to take on remote system administration tasks working in a virtual team.
You have the ability to automate tasks with scripts when necessary. You work autonomously to resolve most support issues. You are able to execute small projects on your own, and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects. You act as the initial escalation point for junior technicians. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support.
You know how to innovate and make decisions on his/her own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved.
- Moving and implementing large enterprise equipment
- Installing Fiber and Copper cabling and patching cabling between equipment
- Ensuring proper safety and security standards are maintained during cabling and rack installation
- Following well established hardware installation procedures and break-fix activities
- Safely using material handling tools and equipment
- 3+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
- 2+ years of computer networking experience
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
