Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. AWS is seeking Data Center Technicians to support our customers in multiple locations. This position requires the successful candidate report to a site location.

AWS is a fast-paced technology company and a leader in data centers. The role will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. The position may involve participation in a primary responder rotation, which includes monitoring the data center infrastructure, coordinating response to operational incidents, and partnering with other teams to rapidly resolve issues that impact service availability.

Primary responder responsibilities may require evening, weekend, holiday, and/or night work to ensure our global data centers operate at the highest levels of reliability. Work independently and with a team; strong prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical. In addition to hardware and network repair, candidates will install equipment, create documentation, innovate solutions, and fix problems within the data center space.

This team works in a 24/7 environment. Travel within and outside of regional work area is required.

Physical Requirements

Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds. Ability to work in a 24/7 environment with primary responder rotation and after-hours support as needed. Work in cramped, elevated, and/or noisy environments. Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day. Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation.

Key responsibilities
  • Perform server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability; escalate to senior technicians and management as needed
  • Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors
  • Perform on-call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities
  • Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues
  • Help train and onboard new team members

  • Solve problems at their root and understand broader context
  • Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting

You will be required to work shift work (days/nights/weekends/holidays). Traveling within and outside of regional work area is required.
