To provide safe, reliable, and cost-efficient vehicles by performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs, diagnosing issues, and performing repairs to prevent breakdowns, reduce vehicle downtime, and improve fleet reliability.
Responsibilities- Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned time tolerances to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Conduct FAI/CVI inspections on all fleet vehicles in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Perform quality preventive maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment, including refrigeration units (Reefer).
- Address driver-reported issues promptly and efficiently.
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs on engines, transmissions, electrical systems, HVAC, and more, following manufacturer specifications.
- Document all work performed on work orders and follow procedures.
- Mentor and share expertise with less experienced technicians.
- May perform moderate supervisory roles in absence of Fleet Manager or Supervisors.
- Proficient in electrical testing, controls, electric motors, and welding as needed.
- Technical training in medium/heavy-duty trucks and 4+ years of experience or 5+ years in fleet maintenance.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
- Certifications:
ASE, EPA 608/609, Brake Inspector, etc. - Own tools required for diagnostics and repairs.
- Expertise in vehicle systems, electrical, and refrigeration repairs.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 100 lbs, working outdoors, and in confined spaces.
- Ability to operate various equipment and perform repetitive motions.
Exposure to outdoor conditions, mechanical hazards, and occasional travel. Non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
