Position OverviewWe are seeking Student Success Bus/Transportation Drivers who are passionate about student success and safety. In this role, you will safely transport our Vanguard scholars (students) to and from school each day, as well as on enrichment field trips, ensuring they arrive ready to learn and grow. You will be more than a driver – a friendly face and mentor who helps create a positive, supportive atmosphere on the bus.
Key Responsibilities- Safely operate a school bus daily to transport students (our “Vanguard scholars”) to and from SR1 CPSA, following designated routes and schedules.
- Drive students and staff to off‑campus enrichment activities and field trips, ensuring safety and adherence to schedules during all outings.
- Conduct thorough pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections to maintain high safety standards; report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
- Uphold all traffic laws, school policies, and safety protocols at all times while driving.
- Create a welcoming and respectful environment on the bus: greet each student, enforce bus rules with kindness and consistency, and encourage positive behavior and social interaction among students during transit.
- Act as an extension of the classroom by modeling SR1 CPSA instructions, values – patience, respect, and support – while students are on the bus.
- Communicate professionally with school administrators, teachers, and parents regarding transportation schedules, delays, or any concerns, serving as a reliable ambassador of SR1 CPSA’s mission and values.
- Assist students in safely boarding and exiting the bus; provide help to young children or those with special needs to ensure their comfort and security.
- Valid CDL License – Class A, B, or C with both Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements (required).
- Clean Driving Record – Excellent driving history with no serious violations; demonstrable commitment to safe driving practices.
- Background Check – Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening (required for all school staff).
- Experience – Prior experience as a school bus driver or similar transportation role is a strong plus.
- Professionalism & Reliability – Punctual, dependable, and able to adhere to a split‑shift schedule (morning and afternoon routes).
- Interpersonal Skills – Friendly, patient, and respectful when working with children; strong communication skills with both students and adults.
- Mission‑Driven Attitude – A passion for education and community impact, with a desire to contribute positively to SR1 CPSA’s supportive, student‑centered culture.
