Position Summary:Canton Drop Forge is seeking a results driven Cost Accountant to join our team. The Cost Accountant plays a critical role in driving operational and financial excellence by managing the cost accounting system, providing visibility to products costing, and partnering closely with operations to improve performance. This role is responsible for cost accounting, inventory management, KPI reporting, and process improvement initiatives that strengthen decision-making and operational accountability.
This role supports core accounting and controllership functions including month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, audit, and compliance.
- Own and manage the cost accounting system, ensuring accuracy and reliability of financial data.
- Delivering actionable cost reporting influences operational and strategic decision-making.
- Crosstrain in payroll and other accounting functions to support broader term coverage and efficiency.
- Develop and improve system and processes that enhance accuracy, speed, and transparency of financial reporting.
- Serve on the project management committee to update, document, and streamline procedures.
- Lead physical inventory counts and inventory management activities to ensure accurate reporting and control.
- Prepare and present KPI reporting while collaborating closely with the operations teams to identify trends, monitor performance, and recommend improvement activities.
- 3 or more years of experience in general accounting, cost accounting, or similar.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, with intermediate Excel skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related
- Experience in manufacturing cost accounting.
- Experience with AS400 or similar ERP.
