Memorial 6 South consists of 26 private rooms. The patients seen include medical oncology cases, hematological disorders, oncologic surgical or diagnostic procedures, chemotherapy or blood product administration, radium/iridium implants, post‑ICU or step‑down transfers with oncology diagnoses, and IV conscious sedation for oncologic procedures.
Job OverviewThe primary responsibility is to provide clinical leadership and direction of patient care, give patient and family teaching, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary health care team to maintain standards of nursing care under the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
Essential Physical/Cognitive Functions- Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation.
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnosis or issue.
- Identify expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient.
- Develop a plan prescribing strategies and alternatives to attain outcomes.
- Implement the plan, coordinate care delivery, and employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
- Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes.
- Systematically enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
- Attain knowledge and competency reflecting current nursing practice.
- Evaluate one’s own practice relative to professional standards and guidelines, statutes, rules and regulations.
- Interact with and contribute to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
- Collaborate with patient, family, and others in the conduct of nursing practice.
- Integrate ethical provisions into all areas of practice.
- Integrate research findings into practice.
- Consider factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice when planning and delivering services.
- Provide leadership in the professional practice setting and profession.
- Graduate of a state board–approved School of Nursing.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Ohio.
- Preferred qualifications:
- BSN education.
- ANCC‑eligible certification.
- Membership in a professional nursing organization.
- Academic and experiential requirements as required by federal, state and local law.
- Proactive in dealing with constant change and prepared for an evolving healthcare environment that includes advanced technologies.
- Varied locations and hours as required by the job.
- Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority throughout the day.
- Requires sitting, standing or moving during working hours.
